Dr. Jose Eustolio Molina Garcia was called to be with our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 24th, at the age of 65 in Laredo, Texas surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on February 7, 1945 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andres Eustolio Molina and Angelina Garcia Molina, brother, Dr. Reynaldo Molina, and mother-in-law, Dennis Martinez Gamboa.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Maria Denise Molina; children: Sandra Denise Molina, Jose Eduardo (Rebecca Alicia) Molina, Gabriela Kristina (Gonzalo) Benavides and Javier Eustolio (Robyn) Molina; grandchildren: Alexandra Rebecca Molina, Jose Eduardo Molina II, Anastasia Karolina Benavides, and Javier Eustolio Molina II; siblings: Angelina (Roberto) Castillo, Hector (Alicia) Molina, and Roberto (Laura Esther) Molina; father-in-law, Julian Gamboa; sister-in-law, Laura Elsa Molina and numerous relatives and special friends.
His education began in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas at Carlos A. Carrillo Elementary School and Juvenal Boone Flores Junior High and High School. He was passionate about being a physician and helping others at a very early age. His medical quest began at La Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, Monterrey, Mexico, where he completed his medical degree in 1968. He continued his medical education by completing his Rotating Internship and Residency in General Surgery and Anesthesiology at the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio. He was board certified on March 12, 1975 by the American Board of Surgery.
Jose Eustolio Molina, M.D., FACS, was an extraordinary surgeon and a distinguished member of our community. He was an active medical staff member of Doctors Hospital of Laredo and Laredo Medical Center for 35 years. Throughout his lifetime, he received numerous honors, he accomplished many goals and was a Board Member of various organizations, including the J. Bradley Aust Surgical Society of the University of Texas Health Science Medical Center in San Antonio, the Healthcare Alliance of Laredo, the Webb-Zapata-Jim Hogg County Medical Society, and Med-Realty. In addition, he served as President of J. Bradley Aust Surgical Society in 1984, was elected an affiliate of the Royal Society of Medicine in 1990, and a member of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. In 2004, he served as Secretary of the Medical staff at Doctors Hospital of Laredo and he was also recognized along with the distinguished Dr. Roberto Gomez-Vasquez for conducting the first hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery using the LAP DISC in Laredo at Doctors Hospital. In 2005, he served as Chief of Surgery at Doctors Hospital and a member of the Medical Review Committee. In 2008, Dr. Molina was recognized as a Champion Vascular Access Surgeon by the End Stage Renal Disease Network of Texas Medical Review Board and Executive Committee.
Dr. Jose Eustolio Molina will be missed dearly by all those whom he loved and who loved him. He was an extraordinary husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, friend, and physician. The memory of his love, dedication, and strength will always be cherished.
The Molina family sends a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all their dear friends and members of the medical community for all their uplifting support and prayers.
A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to St. Patrick Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will follow in the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jose Eduardo Molina, Javier Eustolio Molina, Gabriela Kristina Benavides, Gonzalo Benavides, Roberto Jose Molina, Roberto E. Castillo, Hector Molina, John Orfila, Jr., and Reynaldo Molina.
