Manuel Alejandro Peña Jr. Manuel Alejandro Peña Jr., 48, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 in East Meadow, NY. Manuel Alejandro Peña Jr. was born in Laredo, TX, on June 30, 1963. He graduated from Nixon High School in 1981 and soon after, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served for 30 years, and retired as a high-ranking warrant officer (CW04). While serving in the U.S. Navy, he continued his education and reached a graduate degree level with specialization in Management Information Systems. He was an honorable man with strong family values and a valuable sense of self-worth. He was a person who believed in doing what was right, and he showed that to his subordinates and his family members. Mr. Peña was a good son; husband, father and brother, who helped his family members and his fellow colleagues strive to be better people. Mr. Peña is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Alejandro Sr. and his brother Eduardo Peña. He is survived by his wife, Flor Peña; daughters, Samantha and Stephanie; mother, Socorro Arreola Peña; mother-in-law, Lucy Anoche; brothers, Daniel Peña, Victor Peña, Carlos Peña, Cesar Peña and sister, Brenda Peña Quintanilla. A rosary will be recited on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Agustin Cathedral. A mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Pallbearers will be: Daniel Peña, Carlos Peña, Carlos Quintanilla, Alex Moore, Karl Kwasny, Humberto Ramirez. Military honors will be provided by the U. S. Navy Honor Guard and American Legion Post 59. Interment will follow in the Veterans Section of the City Cemetery.
