Otila Sanchez Coronado

September 20, 1917 — July 8, 2013

Otila Sanchez Coronado Our Mother, We celebrate the life of our Mother; she will always hold a very special place in our hearts . . . September 20, 1917 – July 8, 2013 As a Mother, our Mom was exceptional. Along with her loving husband, together they raised seven children. Family was always very important to them. Tila as she was called by family and friends was born on September 20, 1916, in Laredo, Texas. Her parents were Manuel Sanchez and Eufracia Rodriguez Sanchez. She was one of eight children: Alfredo Sanchez, Manuel Sanchez, Arcadio Sanchez, Daniel Sanchez, Refugia Sanchez, Margarita Sanchez, Catalina Sanchez. On September 5, 1937 she married Juan E. Coronado. They spent fifty eight years together. She is preceded in death by her husband on August 29, 1995. Her son, Juan Manuel Coronado, on November 29, 1998. She is survived by her children Maria Elena Nieto, Raul Coronado, Alfredo (Aida) Coronado, Michael Coronado, Luis I. Coronado, and Margie Coronado. Other survivors' include her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In their early years they lived in Benavides, Texas, San Antonio, Texas, Corpus Christi, Texas, but Laredo, Texas was always home. After our father retired from the Naval Air Base in Corpus Christi, Texas, they returned to their home in Laredo where it all started. It was my Mother’s wishes to return to Laredo and live where she was born and raised, married, and had all her children. She never forgot where she came from. The first thing that Mom would do when she opened her eyes every morning and closed her eyes every evening was to bless herself with the sign of the cross. Mom’s faith was so strong that her hope never diminished and her love was endless. This is what made her last all these many years. She always thought of others and prayed for all of us, constantly. What a living example of her faith she left for us. Our Mom was always in constant communication with our heavenly Father. Mom, today is our chance to say thank you for the way you brightened our lives. We thank God for granting our Mother a full life of joy and happiness, 96 years young at heart. Mom is with us today in our minds and hearts. Words cannot express how much she meant to us. I know that both of our parents and our brother Meme are together watching us and are with us in spirit. Let us remember her as the loving person she was and celebrate the life of a beautiful woman as we honor her memory. As her new journey begins in heaven, let us thank God for the earthly life of a woman we are so proud to be able to call our Mother. So unique, extraordinary and irreplaceable Tila whose beauty, both internal and external, will never leave our minds and hearts. Only now that you are gone do we truly appreciate what we are now without, and we want you to know that life without you is very, very difficult. The faith, hope, and love you gave us through your years of giving will give us the strength to move forward. Mom you will be deeply missed.
