Dolores G. Lara Dolores G. Lara, 105, was called on by our Lord on Wednesday, September 25, 2013. Mrs. Lara was born December 9, 1907 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, but had been a resident of Laredo, Texas since age 4. She was a loving person who dedicated herself to educating her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. In her lifetime she lived through many U.S historical events including the Great Depression, the election of numerous presidents, and other. She was very devoted to her country (United States) which she was very appreciative of the opportunities that she and her children were given. She was very proud of her sons, grandsons, and great grandchildren serving in the U.S. Military. Some of Mrs. Lara’s interests and hobbies were her garden, sewing, cooking, and decorating for her favorite holiday, Christmas. Mrs. Lara looked forward to weekends to enjoy family outings and going dancing at Chavana Ranch during the 1950’s and 60’s.It is those memories that will forever live in our hearts and minds. Mrs. Lara is preceded in death by her husband, Basilio Lara; son, Roberto Lara; grandchildren, Rolando Morales, Nora Pompa and her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Jesus (Maria) Lara, Maria L. (Santos) Pompa, Genoveva L. (Raul) Morales, Basilio Lara, Arturo (Concepcion) Lara; daughter-in-law, Gloria Lara; 21 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 23 great great grandchildren as well as extended family consisting of nieces and nephews. A rosary will be recited on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Luis Rey Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jorge Pompa, Raul F. Morales, Joel Pompa, Eloy Lara, James Lara, Roberto Lara Jr., Danny Lara, David Lara and Roy Lara.
