Maria Guadalupe Rodriguez 1914-2014 You are free now and in the palm of God’s hand, let your spirit guide us and direct us toward God, reuniting us as a family in your new heavenly home. We dedicate our sorrows, anguish, pain and our prayers to our beloved Mother and Grandmother. Her family members preceding in death: spouse, Jose Santos Rodriguez; daughter, Maria Josefina Rodriguez; sons, Jose “Pepito” Rodriguez Jr., Oscar Jaime “Jimmy” Rodriguez, and Jose Patricio “Pat” Rodriguez; mother, Maria Mayorga de la Garza; father, Antonio de la Garza; siblings, Amadito & Eva Mayorga, Margarita & Mario Meza, Conception “Concha” & Arnulfo Alonzo, Esther Maldonado, Minerva “Mine” Martinez, Maria Hilda “Bebe” Robinson, and son-in-law, Rodolfo “Rudy” Garza. Her surviving sisters include Irene Cano and Consuelo “Connie” Grubb. Her surviving daughters and sons include Sylvia R Garza, Rosita Laurel (Servando), Richard Rodriguez (Diane), Rodolfo “Rudy” Rodriguez, Leticia Alderete (Tony), Antonio G. “Tony” Rodriguez. Her surviving daughters-in-law include Eulalia Guerrero Rodriguez, Teresita Cavazos Rodriguez and Diane P. Rodriguez. She leaves 21 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Procession will depart at 10:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to St. Patrick Catholic Church. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Services will conclude after the mass. Our most humble and sincere thanks to Doctors Hospital Emergency Room staff and to all who took care of our mother while hospitalized. To Dr. Luis Benavides for the diligent kindness and professionalism he gave to our family and mother in the time of need. To Ricardo, Dr. Benavides assistant, for his constant attention to our family and mother. To all the staff at Dr. Benavides’ office, thank you for your prompt attention to our family and mother. Our thanks to Dr. Ricardo A. Garza F.A.C.C. and staff of Alamo Heart Associates P.A. of San Antonio, Texas. Thank you to the San Augustine Home Health Services including Jesus Ramirez & son, Evelyn, Valerie, Erica, Marivel, and Griselda Canales. Thanks to her physical therapist team including Rosie and Leticia Lucio; her nurse Sandra and Esmeralda her RN assessor. Many thanks to Patricia and the staff at Bronze Star Ambulance. Our sincere thanks to Jaime Jasso from the Laredo Firefighters Retirement System and the Central Fire Department Station. Thank you to our neighbors Enrique & Olivia Villanueva and daughter Velma. Thanks to our cousins Diana & Doug Lacey, Elsa & Joe Flores, Rosa & Alex Gonzalez, Ada & Alfredo Torres, Agustin, Enrique “Kike, and Laura Maldonado for all the kindness, moral support, continuous visits and assistance in every possible way. She was always grateful for your presence though she was ill and could not bake a “merienda” for you in her final days. Mil gracias from the Rodriguez family.
