Mr. Jose Luis Garza Mr. Jose Luis Garza, 65, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2014 in Laredo, Texas. Mr. Garza served his country with distinction as a member of the United States Army, serving a tour in Vietnam until 1971. After his tour in Vietnam, he returned home to continue serving his country by enlisting in the United States Army Reserve until January of 1974. Mr. Garza then started a distinguished career with UPS starting out washing the signature "brown trucks" and retiring as a supervisor for the central Texas region. During his career with UPS he also volunteered as the editor of the UPS magazine "Big Idea". He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. Mr. Garza is preceded in death by his father, Luis Garza. He is survived by his loving wife, Olga J. Garza; children, Gary (Alexandra) Garza and Sara Garza; grandchildren, Johnathan Rubio, Nicholai Rubio and Lucas Garza; mother, Eva Escamilla; sisters, Arlene (Homer) Martinez and Eva (Bob) Dunn; brothers, Robert (Anita) Garza and Jaime Escamilla. Also surviving are numerous relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to St. Patrick Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be Robert Garza, Homer Martinez, Charles W.Brunner, Reynaldo Garza,Louie M. Garza, and Ronnie Garza. Services will conclude at the church.
