Mauricette Reine Jean-Petit-Matile-Barrera Mauricette Reine Jean-Petit-Matile-Barrera, 77, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014, in Austin, TX. She was born in Geneva, Switzerland and resided in Laredo for over 46 years. She was a café owner in Geneva, Switzerland with her sister, Danielle Chillier, before moving to Laredo to marry Manuel Barrera. In Laredo, she owned and operated a French restaurant, Chez Mauricette, for over 30 years. She was a devoted Christian and longtime member of the First Austin Assembly of God, formerly known as the First Assembly of God. Her parents, Rene Jean-Petit-Matile and Rose Fournier Jean-Petit-Matile; her infant son, Guy Jean-Petit-Matile; her sister, Danielle Chillier; and her former husband, Manuel Barrera; and her brother-in-law, Roger Chillier preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Sybille Barrera; her companion of 30 years, Adolfo Palomo; her nephew, Christian Chillier; and her niece, Isabel Chillier. All in her immediate and extended family as well as her friends will dearly miss her. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A chapel service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Greg officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Laredo Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the amazing ICU staff aka “Angels” at Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos; the staff at Texas NeuroRehab Center, the ER staff at St. David’s Hospital-South in Austin, TX, as well as family and friends for their prayers and support. Also to Dr. Jennings who stood by her side the entire time.
