Manuel “Meme” Zuniga, Jr. Mr. Manuel Zuniga entered into eternal rest on Monday August 10, 2015, at the age of 67. Born on April 25th, 1948 in Laredo, Texas Manuel was a dedicated educator for 36 years until his retirement in 2005. Manuel taught high school History & Spanish at Martin High School which he felt very privileged to work with students every day. “Once a tiger always a tiger”. Being an educator fulfilled many of his dreams. Manuel had a great passion for watching and following the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed dancing, and listening to music. He had a way of striking up a conversation with persons of all ages, and was a great conversationalist especially when it came to History. He is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Ramon Zuniga. He is survived by his loving wife, Yolanda Palacios Zuniga; children, Monica (Hector) Canales, Marco Antonio (Irma) Zuniga, Manuel Ramon Zuniga, III. Also, left to cherish his memory are his beloved grandchildren, Christina Martinez, Kasandra Aileen Zuniga, Jesus Hector “Guerito” Canales, III, Juliana Zuniga, Viviana Canales, Emily Zuniga, Jordan Zuniga, Jazzmin Zuniga; mother, Guadalupe Zuniga; brothers and sisters, Patrick, Elsa, Rosa, Gloria, Javier; in-laws, the Palacios family; his Chihuahuas, Lucky, Sophia, Canela, and Simon (+) and numerous relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
