Raul Perales was called by our Lord to enter into his heavenly Kingdom on Monday, August 24, 2015. Mr. Perales attended St. Joseph’s Academy where he made many lifelong friends. Known to many as Rule, he excelled in sports and graduated a distinguished athlete. Upon graduation, he joined the US Navy and served aboard the USS Randolph, the primary recovery ship for NASA. After proudly serving his country, Raul joined Xerox Corp. in San Antonio and was recognized as their top salesman for several years. After 12 years with Xerox, he returned to Laredo as president and publisher of the Laredo News. In 1998, Raul joined Fasken Oil and Ranch; a Midland based company and served as their land and development manager for Webb Co. In 2009 he became La Posada’s Hotel Corporate Managing Director. After his retirement from the hotel, he continued to work for the Fasken Family. Always a firm believer in community service, Raul served on the Chamber of Commerce; president of the Jaycees and co presided with his wife Aida as presidents of the Starduster’s Club. He also proudly served as a UISD Board Member. For the last 18 years, he has actively served on the board of the Sacred Heart Children’s Home. As a special tribute to honor Raul’s dedication and work for his beloved community our Country’s flag was flown at half-staff over the Texas Capital on Monday August 24. Preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Ramon and Angelina Perales; brothers, Ramiro & Ramon “Chito” Perales; parents- in-Law; Mr. & Mrs. Antonio and Amelia Gonzalez. Survived by his loving wife of 47 year, Aida G. Perales; his children, Monica Perales, Raul Gabriel (Cindy) Perales and Claudia Yvonne Perales. His three beautiful grandchildren who were the joy of his life, Diego Garcia, Sebastian Antonio & Alessandro Gabriel Perales. His sister, Mary Perales; brothers & sisters-in-law: Alicia (Reynaldo) Rodriguez, Javier (Leonor) Gonzalez, Viola Cabrera, Roberto (Carmen) Gonzalez, Gloria (Juan B.) Carranza, Jorge (Ella) Gonzalez and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and dear friends. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Sacred Heart Children’s Home at 3310 S. Zapata Hwy, Laredo TX 78046 Honorary Pallbearers: Memo Vela, Dr. Carlos Vela, Judge Antonio Zardenetta, Jorge Verduzco, Johnny Dickinson, Hector “Tito” Garcia, Rafael Cisneros, Mike Cisneros, Norbert Dickman, Chuck Hedges and Edmundo Gonzalez. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to his physician and friend Dr. Ricardo Cigarroa. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 9:00 am. at San Agustin Cathedral, Father Iden Bello shall officiate with the Most Reverend James Tamayo, Bishop of the Diocese of Laredo, in attendance. Guests wishing to attend are invited to meet at the Cathedral. A private interment will be held at a later day.
