Carmen R. Pelayo Carmen R. Pelayo, 90, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 in Laredo, Texas. Carmen and her husband, Aureliano “Pepe” Pelayo moved to Laredo, Texas in the early 1990’s from Chicago, IL. Since both were retired they dedicated their time volunteering with various community organizations such as, AARP, The Literacy Volunteers of America, Disabled American Veterans, Sheriff’s Association of Texas, The IRS Volunteer Tax Program and Mercy Health Center. She is preceded in death by her husband, Aureliano Pelayo; son, Felix Pelayo; parents, Coronel Luis R. Rucobo and Maria Nuñez. Mrs. Pelayo is survived by her children, Rafael (Juanita) Pelayo, Josefina (Jesus) Ornelas, Catalina (Leonardo) Salas, Maria Luisa (Juanito) Villa and Juan M. Pelayo; sister, Natalia Rucobo de Sanchez; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends. A vigil will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church with Msgr. James Harris officiating.
