Manuelita De la Garza Manuelita De la Garza, 99, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 in Laredo, Texas. Manuelita was a loving and caring wife and mother who always put the need of others before her own. She especially loved cooking for her grandchildren. Manuelita was an avid bingo player who enjoyed socializing with her cousins regularly. Above all, Manuelita was absolutely devoted to her beloved husband of 52 years, and loved her children unconditionally. She was a woman of strong faith trusting in Christ’s love. She confidently awaited the reunion with her loved ones and the peace she would find after her passing. Mrs. De la Garza is preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Maria Del Refugio Morales; her husband, Jose De La Garza; son, Eduardo De la Garza; daughter, Sylvia De la Garza Cook; son-in-law, Tom Cook. She is survived by her children Jose (Elsa) De la Garza, Jr., Melchor (Corine) De la Garza, Amelia (Dennis) Clemons, Guadalupe (Sylvia) De la Garza, and daughter-in-law, Estela De la Garza. Mrs. De la Garza is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great- grandchildren, other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Christ the King Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the City of Laredo Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Adonis Zuniga Goldwater for his understanding dedication and caring to our beloved Manuelita.
