Hortencia G. Garcia

September 3, 1919 — May 16, 2016

Our beloved mother Hortencia G. Garcia entered peacefully into eternal rest surrounded by her children on Monday, May 16, 2016. Mom was a very kind, gentle, and caring person; who held a loving and generous heart. As a lifelong resident of Laredo, Texas she was also an Active and faithful member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She served faithfully as a parishioner and a member of the Guadalupanas, Catholic Daughters of America, and The Cursillo Movement. Our Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Victor Garcia; her parents, Ignacio and Adela Garcia; In-laws, Cresencio and Carmen Garcia; siblings, Jose Garcia, Alfonso Garcia, Minerva Melendez; and her son-in –law, Fidel Elizondo, Jr. She is survived by her only living sister Dolores Solis; children, Edna (FidelƗ) Elizondo, Hortencia “Tenchita” (Felipe) Sanchez, Victor (Ana) Garcia Jr., Alma (Jesus) Garza, and Idalia (Arturo) Ali. She is also survived by her many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Also surviving her are her caring and loving care-givers who stuck by her till the very end; Martita Hernandez Vazquez, Raquel Rios-Mojeda, Tina De La Rosa, Alma Quintero, and Teresa Villarreal. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. by Catholic Daughters of America. A second rosary will recite at 7:00 in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Our family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to the following people for all the care and kindness bestowed to us and our loving mother; Oscar Perez, MD., and Staff, Laredo Quality Health Care, nurse Cynthia Ruiz, the hospital and Staff of Laredo Medical Center, 2nd Floor, and Laredo Specialty Hospital.
