Rodolfo "Fito/Pilo" Bernal

Rodolfo “Fito/Pilo” Bernal, 79, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016 in Laredo, Texas. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He went peacefully surrounded by all his family. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched. In his younger years he was employed as an avid cook for the Laredo Air Force Base. He continued his passion of cooking at his father's family restaurant called Pilo's Place. Later he was employed by Sanchez O'Bryan as a cook to host their sociable and hunting events. Mr. Bernal is preceded in death by his son, Gerardo Bernal; parents, Porfirio and Maria S. Bernal; siblings, Gilberto Bernal and Felix Bernal. He is survived by his wife of 59 years of marriage, Yolanda F. Bernal; children, Leticia Bernal, Rodolfo (Laura) Bernal, Jr., Lucelia (Hector) Luna, and Nora Linda (Luis) Cavazos; siblings, Porfirio (Beatriz) Bernal, Sylvia Bernal, Delfina B. (Moises +) Flores and Andres (Maria Esther) Bernal; 10 grandchildren, numerous relatives and friends. A rosary was recited on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Francisco Javier Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Rodolfo Bernal Jr., Gerardo Bernal Jr., Moises Flores, Jr., , Esteban Cavazos, Allen Luna, Humberto Flores, Joe Garza, and Mike De La Garza.
