Elisa Garcia

July 4, 1935 — December 17, 2016

Elisa Garcia, 81, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016, in Laredo, Texas. In, 1935, our Lord blew life into the soul of Elisa Garcia, and so her life on Earth was deemed. On December 17, 2016, our Lord whispered her name to His Angels and down they came to attest that our mother’s journey on Earth was to be rendered as she entered Eternal Life in His Kingdom. She served him from 1935-2016. The dash so insignificant yet the most cherished and admirable is epic; as that “dash “symbolizes her life with us. She gave birth to seven children, yet she also mothered the neighborhood kids thus creating an extended family that consisted of eager, inspiring, and self-motivated youth. She dropped then off at school, and picked them up as they scurried to the most scrumptious home cooked meal of the day. Her specialty, mole con arroz y frijoles, was savored by all. Chiles rellenos and enchiladas were a favorite amongst us all. The epiphany of her love was manifested in abundance as everyone who knew her loved her for her compassionate and tender loving heart as her life evolved. The next chapter in life was that of being the most caring grandmother who engaged in her grandchildren’s lives. She did absolutely everything possible to show them how much she loved them and ensured they felt it in their heart, from supporting her grandchildren at a basketball game, dance recitals, or cheerleading competition, to showing off their macaroni artwork, drawings, and class pictures by displaying them on her refrigerator door. She radiated her pride that transpired to her grandchildren as they were inspired with confidence and pride in every aspect of their lives. “Be not afraid, I go before you always. Come follow me, and I will give you rest.” Psalm Mrs. Garcia is preceded in death by the father of her children, Manuel R. Garcia; parents Arnulfo Z. Lopez and Maria Alicia Lopez; sisters, Blanca, Rosa, Yolanda, and Cristina.
