Carlos Ruben Martinez

Carlos Ruben Martinez Sr., 90, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017 in Laredo, TX. He served in the Navy during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific from August 23, 1943 to December 6, 1945. Mr. Martinez is preceded in death by his wife Elia Peña Martinez; parents, Julio and Romana Martinez; in-laws, Leonides and Casimira Peña; son, David Martinez; baby daughter, Guadalupe Martinez; siblings, Roque (Oralia) Martinez, Ricardo Martinez, Anita Aguilar, and Delfina Flores. He is survived by his sons Carlos R. (Yolanda) Martinez Jr., Raul F (Maru) Martinez, Mario Martinez, Aldo (Anna) Martinez, Arnoldo (Terrie) Martinez; daughters, Rosie (Octavio) Salinas and Tatiana J. (Emmanuel) Lopez. Also surviving him are his special grandchildren that he raised, Carlos R. III, Danny, Michelle, Raul F. Martinez Jr., Janelle M. Perez, Katrina Salinas, Careli Marie and Davian J. Lopez, 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Julio (Dinorah), Conrado (Nelda), Jose Martinez; sister, Alicia Rodriguez; sister-in-law, Delfina Martinez, as well as other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 26, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Military honors will be provided by the Navy Honor Guard and American Legion Post 59 Honor Guard.
