Simon Lidsky

May 31, 1924 — July 19, 2017

Simon Lidsky, 93, known to the family as Pip, Pa, or Papo was born to Russian parents Isaac and Luba in Istanbul, Turkey on May 31, 1924. He was raised in La Habana Cuba and it was there that he first found success in business. In 1960 looking for a better opportunity for his family, he left Cuba. After a brief stay in Miami he and the family moved to Puerto Rico where he started several new successful business ventures. In 1966, wanting to return to the United States he left Puerto Rico and launched in McAllen, Texas a successful retail business chain of stores which remained in operation until 2010. Laredo, Texas was home to Simon and New York City was a city he visited frequently. He was an active member of both communities. Always wanting to share his blessings and good fortune, Simon was generous supporting causes which were close to his heart without looking for recognition. He was a man of high moral standards and principles. He is survived by his wife Hilda (Anita) the love of his life of 71 years; his three children Luba, Carlos and Luis (Jenny); grandchildren, Ilana, Daria, Ronit, Isaac, Shana, Marlena, Kendra, Katya, and Kelsey;18 great-grandchildren. Simon was deeply loved and respected by his family and everyone who knew him. The family would like to thank Dr. Milton Haber for his dedication, support and patience with us during this difficult time as well as the staff at Doctors Hospital and Providence Hospital Rehabilitation for their endless comfort and assistance. Our eternal gratitude to his caregivers, Chevita, Mabe, and, Juan Manuel for their love, and devotion to his care. Finally, our gratitude to Vicky and Mary from Nurses on Wheels of Laredo for all their love, kindness, and care. They each made a difference. Our Pipo will be missed. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at The Lakeside Memorial Park, 10301 North West 25th Street, Miami, Florida 33172.
