Sylvia Fernandez

Sylvia Sanchez Fernandez, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday August 2, 2017 in Laredo, Texas. Sylvia was born in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico and attended Holding Institute. She later made Los Angeles, California her home for 48 years and returned to Laredo, Texas in 2008. Sylvia’s joy was to share God’s word with everyone she knew and met. But her greatest joy of all were her beloved grandchildren. Ms. Fernandez is preceded in death by her parents, Federico Sanchez Carranza and Paula Hinojosa de Sánchez; siblings Federico Sánchez Hinojosa, Olga Sánchez de Hinojosa, Oscar Sanchez Hinojosa, and Elizabeth Sanchez de Camacho. She leaves behind her daughter Jeanette (Carlos) Fernández and her son Carlos Clifton; brother Hector (Angela) Sanchez Hinojosa; grandchildren, Carlos Fernández, Jr., Alexa Fernandez, Carlos Clifton, Jr., Michael Clifton, Stephen Clifton; great-grandchild, Alex Clifton. Ms. Fernandez is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. The family will receive guests for visitation on Sunday, August 6th, 2017 from 12pm to 3pm at the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel.
