Alberto Alvarez

Alberto Alvarez, 78, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, in Laredo, Texas.

Mr. Alvarez is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Maria Alvarez; first wife, San Juanita Melendez Alvarez; second wife, Marcella Miller Alvarez; and brother, Jose Luis Alvarez.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Soledad Woo Alvarez; children, Juanita (Fernando) Prado, Alberto (Yvette) Alvarez Jr., Alexander Alvarez, Allen (Hilda Oralia+) Alvarez, Alfredo (Isabel) Alvarez, Alfonso Alvarez, Jacqueline (Luis Casarez) Alvarez, Alvin (Griselda) Alvarez, Alonso (Pamela) Alvarez; siblings, Maria Antonia Oviedo and Jorge Hernandez. Mr. Alvarez is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A rosary will be recited on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. For those unable to attend, service will be live-streamed through the Hillside Funeral Home Facebook page.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 23, 2020, at 9:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Martin Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will follow to the City of Laredo Cemetery.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the family kindly asks all those wishing to express their condolences in person to maintain social distancing orders, all necessary restrictions will be observed in order to protect the health and safety of those in attendance. In accordance with the city ordinance, the number of visitors will be limited. All visitors must wear face coverings while inside the building. Hand sanitizer is provided upon entry.
