Amanda Garza

Amanda V. Garza, 89, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 15, 2026, in Laredo, surrounded by the love of her family.

Amanda was a woman of deep faith, unwavering devotion, and boundless love for her family. Throughout her life, she exemplified kindness, strength, and grace. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting presence that only she could provide. She found her greatest joy in caring for her loved ones and nurturing the close-knit family she so proudly built.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Olegario Villarreal and Maria del Refugio Rodriguez; her devoted husband, Rene Leonel Garza; her brothers, Ruben Villarreal and Olegario Mario Villarreal; her sister, Lilia Mendoza; and three other siblings who welcomed her into eternal peace.

Left to cherish her beautiful memory are her loving children: Rene Leonel Garza Jr. (Delia), Reynaldo Garza (Yolanda), David Garza, Gerardo Garza (Judith), Maria de Lourdes Walsh (John C.), and Jorge Antonio Garza. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren who were the light of her life and whom she adored beyond measure.

Amanda is further survived by her sister, Raquel Rodriguez (+Francisco); her sister-in-law, Leticia Villarreal; her brother-in-law, Antonio Mendoza; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.

Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Hillside Funerals and Cremations from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Hillside Funerals and Cremations beginning at 7:00 a.m. and departing at 8:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church

Interment will follow to the family plot at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: John R. Walsh, Reynaldo Garza Jr., Carlos Emmanuel Garza, Ruben Garza, David Garza Jr. and Jacob Garza.

Amanda’s legacy of faith, love, and dedication to family will live on through the generations she so tenderly guided. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
