November 13, 1929 — July 26, 2020

Mrs. Amelia Dovalina, age 90, of Laredo, TX entered into eternal rest Sunday, July 26, 2020. She was born on November 13, 1929, in Webb County to Maria Luisa Navarro and Alberto Javier Esparza. Amelia was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Roberto Dovalina Sr. She was a devout member of San Martin De Porres Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, prayer, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sylvia N. (Alvin) Benner, Roberto (Judy) Dovalina Jr., Jorge Luis (Irma) Dovalina, Alberto Javier (Christine) Dovalina; grandchildren, Jorge Luis (Johanna) Dovalina Jr., Elisa Dovalina, Elizabeth (David) Degollado, Alberto Dovalina Jr. (A.J.), Roberto Andres Dovalina, Cassandra Dovalina; step-grandchildren, Jaime Vasquez, Carlos Vasquez, Miguel Vasquez; 9 great-grandchildren and a very dear family friend, Alma Margot Montemayor. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her. Memorial service will be Saturday, September 19, 2020, at the Hillside Funeral Home chapel from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. For those unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed from the Hillside Funeral Home Facebook page. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at 9:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow to the family plot at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the family kindly asks all those wishing to express their condolences in person to maintain social distancing orders, all necessary restrictions will be observed in order to protect the health and safety of those in attendance. In accordance with the city ordinance, the number of visitors will be limited. All visitors must wear face coverings while inside the building. Hand sanitizer is provided upon entry. Continue to practice social distancing while inside the funeral home chapel.
