Mr. Cornelio "Nelo" Flores, 71, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in Laredo, Texas, having been faithfully surrounded by his loving family by his side. Cornelio was a proud Veteran of the US Army, values that he continued living until his passing.
Cornelio “Nelo” Flores had a deep love for farming, a passion he inherited from his father, Jose Angel Flores. On his cherished 5-acre ranch, Nelo cultivated a wide variety of vegetables, pouring his heart into every harvest. Over the decades, he generously donated thousands of pounds of fresh produce—especially his signature onions—to local nonprofit organizations in Laredo, including Sacred Heart Children’s Home, Casa Misericordia, and the South Texas Food Bank. He also shared the fruits of his labor with family and friends, never accepting a penny in return.
Beyond the fields, Nelo found immense joy in cooking and bringing his loved ones together. Holiday gatherings were his favorite, often centered around his famous menudo, a dish celebrated by all who had the good fortune to taste it.
His second home was Bricks & Tile International, where he spent many years doing what he loved and had a true passion for—working with his hands, building relationships, and helping others bring their projects to life.
Nelo’s selflessness, warmth, and dedication to family, community, and hard work leave a legacy that will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, please consider bringing or donating a tree that can be placed in the ranch as an everlasting memory and dedication to Nelo's passion for the ranch.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Jose Angel Flores & Adelaida Flores, and brother, Jose Angel Flores II.
