David Joseph Hardin Jr., 60, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, in Laredo, Texas. Captain Hardin heroically and wholeheartedly served as a firefighter and paramedic with the Laredo Fire Department for 31 years. It was here that he became a member of the first Search and Rescue Dive Team for the Fire Department. He retired in 2012 after saving countless lives doing what he loved. David Hardin graduated in 1977 from Nixon High School where he ran track and played basketball. David was a happy, loving, and carefree person. On his free time, he loved to go bowling, fishing, and play racketball. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend. He touched many lives and will be dearly missed. Mr. Hardin is preceded in death by his parents, David J. Hardin Sr. and Nellie Hardin; sister, Araceli de Luna. He is survived by his children, Christine M. (Javier) Lozano, David J. (Crystal) Hardin, Stephanie Hardin and Sabrina Hardin; grandchildren, Gage Lozano, Colt Lozano, Deven Hardin, David Joseph Hardin IV and Johnny Hardin; siblings, Nellie (Benny) Herrera, Norma Gallegos, Donna de Luna, Debbie (Javier) Riojas, Billy (Elsa) Hardin, Diana Hardin and Elizabeth Hardin; and her aunt Carmen (Sylvester+) Garcia. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A rosary will be recited on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.A chapel service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at Hillside Funeral Home.Interment will follow in the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
