- Mrs. Delia Luna, 86, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 31, 2025, on the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was born on August 15, 1938—the Feast of the Assumption—in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, to the late Jose Marcos and Simona Cardenas. A devout woman of faith, Delia lived a life rooted in prayer, love, and service to her family and community. Her strong Catholic faith guided her throughout her life and is a legacy that will continue through the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. On June 9, 1968, she married Jose Mario Luna in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Their marriage was blessed with six children and 15 years of shared life and love.
- She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jose Mario Luna; her daughter, Maria del Carmen Luna; her parents, Jose Marcos and Simona Cardenas; her siblings, Salvador, Jose, Armando, and Pedro Cardenas, and Maria Teresa Gallegos; her son-in-law, Juan Manuel Barrera; and her grandson, Jose Mario Luna III.
- Left to honor her memory and carry on her legacy are her children: Maria Lourdes (the late Juan M.) Barrera, Jose Marcos Luna (Anna Liza), Maria de Jesus Luna-Compton (Daniel), Jose Mario Luna Jr. (Yamille), and Sigifredo Luna (Elvira Cruz); her grandchildren: Evelyn Denise Barrera, Christopher Barrera, Ethan James Luna (Nataly), Rachel Renee Luna, Victoria Nicole Luna, Alejandro Luna, Aaron Luna, Jacob Andrew Compton, Sophia Peña (Miguel), Daniel Andres Luna, Aalyah Luna, and Avram Luna; and her great-grandchildren: Sara Peña, Miguel Andres Peña, Sophia Isabella Peña, and Noah Mario Luna.
- She is also survived by her sisters, Maria Dolores Cardenas-Martinez and Irma C. Villarreal, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends. Delia will be remembered for her quiet strength, her deep compassion, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
- The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 5 to 9 pm at Hillside Funerals and Cremations, where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will be offered for the repose of her soul at 7 pm.
- Visitation will continue on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 7 am until 8:45 am to depart to St. John Neumann Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Salvador Pedroza at 9 am.
- Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Sigifredo Luna, Ethan James Luna, Alejandro Luna, Christopher Barrera, Aaron Luna, and Daniel Andres Luna.
