Dora Herminia Gonzalez Wolfe, 78, passed peacefully into eternal rest on February 26, 2018 in Laredo, Texas surrounded by her loving family.   Mrs. Wolfe was born and educated in Laredo.  She attended St. Peter’s Parochial Elementary School, Ursuline Academy and graduated from Martin High School in 1957.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Dance, Physical Education and Recreation from Texas Women’s University.   She went on to earn her Master’s degree. Dance was always a part of Dora’s life.  She and her twin sister, Nora, were often asked to perform before civic groups and clubs throughout their early years.  This included taking part and winning statewide competitions including the Pan American Student Forum. After graduation, she moved to Maryland with her sister, Frances, and began teaching with the Prince George’s County School System where she taught physical education and health. Her other activities included coaching the volleyball team, sponsoring the pompoms dance team and directing school plays, musicals and dance performances.  While teaching at Duval High School, she met and married her husband, Daly.  They had two sons.  Their home was always filled with friends and family.  She was considered a “second mom” to many of their sons’ friends. She and her husband were always a part of their sons’ numerous activities. She also taught at Crossland and Gwynn Park High Schools. She was booster and active PTA member of Surrattsville High School where her sons were students. Following retirement, she returned to Laredo where she reunited with friends and became involved with the Kidney Foundation of Laredo, the Laredo Animal Protective Society and the Pan American Round Table where she offered her skills as a dancer and teacher in helping to present special programs. She is survived by her sons Gilbert R. and Edward D. (Susan); her sister Maria Teresa Ramirez (Ramiro); her brother-in-law Robert H. Wolfe (Agnes) and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and godchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Gilberto G. and Herminia Gamez Gonzalez; her husband Daly Lynwood Wolfe; and her sisters Nora Montemayor (Jose) and Frances G. Madison (William G.). A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel.
