Esteban Garza

Mr. Esteban Garza, 92, passed away peacefully in his home and entered eternal rest on May 28, 2024. He was born in Brasilitos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to the late Jose Maria and Francisca (Vela) Garza.

Mr. Garza was actively involved in the Cursillo movement, Adoracion Nocturna, weekly prayer meetings, and various church activities. He was devoted to enhancing his spirituality through his involvement with the Catholic Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Herlinda B. Garza and his siblings, Fabian Garza, Genaro Garza, Luis Garza, Jose Maria Garza, Francisca Garza Guerra, and Carlota Garza (Ignacio+) Sanchez. Mr. Garza is survived by his children, Leonel “Leo” (Dora) Garza, Herlinda (Salathiel+) Hale, Dr. Angelica “Angie” Garza; Grandchildren, Melissa (Moises) Mendoza, Veronica (Matias) Ydrogo, and Jessica (Gerardo Reyes+) Garza; Great grandchildren, Issac D. Reyes, Abigail D. Reyes, Rebekah Ydrogo, and Alessandra Mendoza; Brothers, Eloy Garza, Justo Garza, and Andres Garza, and numerous close relatives and friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Joaquin G. Cigarroa (+) for his life-long, compassionate care, Dr. Carlos Orces and his staff, Altus Hospice, including Nurses Marqui and Jerry, Dr. Mohsen Mahani, and the dedicated staff for the care that they provided during this difficult time. The family would also like to thank Mr. Garza’s long-time caregiver, Martha Battistata.

The family will be receiving condolences on Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Hillside Funerals and Cremations, 310 W. Hillside Road. A Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7:00 PM.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, June 3, 2024, departing at 8:30 am from Hillside Funerals and Cremations to San Luis Rey Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am.  

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Leonel Garza, Moises Mendoza, Matias Ydrogo, Isaac D. Reyes, Juan Enrique Villarreal, and Alejandro Villarreal.
