Florentino "Tino" Hernandez

January 12, 1964 — April 20, 2022

Florentino “Tino” Hernandez, 58, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, April 20, 2022.

He was born in Laredo, Texas, one of eight children born to Silvestre and Margarita Hernandez, being the youngest male. He enjoyed listening to rock music as well as corridos and conjuntos. He was educated in local schools and obtained his GED. He followed the Houston Texans and Astros games. He was the wittiest of all, always having nicknames for family and friends.

His daughters were his pride and joy and his love for them was evident in all his daily activities. Tino was a devoted son who always looked after his beautiful mother who in turn spoiled him with her delicious meals and recipes. He loved his sister-in-law Margie’s flour tortillas and rated them number one! He enjoyed the weekly outdoor grilling and cooking his famous bacon potato soup. Tino owned and operated Super Bee Paint & Body for several years and enjoyed auto mechanics. He previously worked at A-1 Scale Services. He will always be remembered for extending a helping hand to family and friends.

Mr. Hernandez is preceded in death by his father, Silvestre Hernandez; sister, Maria de la Luz Hernandez, and brother, Felipe Benitez; grandmothers, Luz B. Hernandez and Maria Benitez; brothers-in-law, Ricardo Javier Guajardo and Manuel Ramirez Jr.; aunts and uncles, Christina B. Vera, Aurelio (Antonia) Ruiz Benitez, and Hector Ruiz Benitez.

He is survived by his wife, Monica R. Hernandez; daughters, Carla A. Hernandez, Victoria A. Hernandez, and Sofia O. Hernandez; mother, Margarita B. Hernandez; siblings, Maria de Jesus Guajardo, Beatriz H. (Rodolfo Jr.) Velasquez, Silvestre (Margarita) Hernandez Jr., Jorge (Diana) Hernandez; Adolfo (Araceli) Hernandez, and Carmen (Dal) Lorentz; 13 nieces and nephews; 20 great-nieces and nephews, and 1 great-grandniece. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, and cousins in Mexico City and surrounding areas, Leonardo (Martha) Ruiz Benitez, and Isabel Boullosa Villa.
