Gloria Amanda Casarez

Gloria Amanda Casarez, 91, entered into eternal rest on June 7, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her father, Porfirio Avalos; mother, Angela Avalos; beloved husband, Jose Casarez Sr.; son, Jose Casarez Jr.; daughter, Alicia Gomez; and brother, Humberto Avalos (Guadalupe).

Left to cherish her fond memory are her children, Lydia Valdez (Enrique), Linda Hernandez (+Santos), Sandra Cervera (Ramiro), and Humberto Casarez; son-in-law, Jose Gomez; daughter-in-law, Diana Cantu; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A loving mother, grandmother, and wife, Mrs. Casarez will be greatly missed by all her family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hillside Funerals & Cremations, 310 Hillside Road, Laredo, Texas 78041, with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 7 am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at San Luis Rey Catholic Church, 3502 Sanders Avenue, Laredo, Texas 78041; at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow at the City of Laredo Cemetery, 3200 North Meadow Avenue, Laredo, Texas 78040, where Mrs. Casarez will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband in the Veterans Section.

Pallbearers will be Humberto Casarez, Enrique Valdez, Ernie Valdez, Enrique Valdez Sr., Albert Gomez, Jose Gomez, Jose Casarez III, Ramiro Cervera, and Rene Herrera. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Hernandez, Santos Hernandez, and Justin Hernandez.
