Gregorio Gonzalez Jr.

Gregorio Gonzalez Jr., 81, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020 surrounded by his family. Mr. Gonzalez was preceded in death by his parents, Lilia and Gregorio Gonzalez Sr., and his siblings, Amador Gonzalez and Graciela Guerrero.He is survived by his wife, Ofilia Gonzalez; children, Gerardo (Irasema) Gonzalez, Maricela Gonzalez, Elsa (Daniel) Perez-Garcia, and Roel (Saul) Gonzalez; sister, Lilia Riojas. Mr. Gonzalez is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Jennifer, Melissa, Priscilla, Jacob, Nicky, Jerry and Chris. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Mr. Gonzalez served his community as a Captain for the Laredo Fire Department for over 35 years. He was a devoted husband,  loving father, and an amazing grandfather. Nevertheless a compassionate dog owner holding very dear to his heart his one and only “Precious”. He was a sports enthusiast, a #1 fan  of The Dallas Cowboys. As well, enjoyed endless game day cookouts with family and friends. Welcoming guests at his home was a favorite past time he looked  forward to preparing his traditional New Years Menudo. Mr. Gonzalez will always be remembered for his amazing hospitality making sure people left his home with a full belly and a smile on their face. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m.Interment will follow to the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
