Herminia Vallejo

February 9, 1928 — March 19, 2022

Herminia P. Vallejo, 94, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 19, 2022, in Laredo, Texas. Herminia was the second child born to Rita Palacios Segura and Rito Palacios. Mrs. Vallejo also lovingly known to her dear grandchildren, family, and friends as “Mimo”.

Herminia was a woman of great faith. She would pray her daily number of rosaries for those requesting special prayers. She was caring, compassionate, and a wonderful cook. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Mimo loved diet coke, barbecue ribs and enjoyed the brisket and chicken that her sons-in-law prepared for her. She was funny and loved to dance.

She loved to whistle and could whistle entire songs while doing her Mimo chores. She will be missed and remembered as the matriarch of her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Rafael Vallejo, her brothers: Jose Angel Palacios, Roberto Palacios “La Fruta”, Vidal Palacios, Reynaldo Palacios, and Rodolfo Palacios. Sisters: Alicia Palacios, Delia P. Valdez, Noemi P. Mattheis, and Raquel P. Garza, brothers and sisters in law, and other family members.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her Son: Jose Luis Palacios, Daughters, Herminia Diamantina (Arturo) Espinoza, Josefina (Jose Luis) Lara, Maria del Rosario (Frank Jr.) Idrogo, Juanita Evelyn (Ruben) Gonzalez, Enedelia Vallejo, and Ana Maria (Albert) Innocencio; grandchildren, Joseph Lara, Rebecca Lara, Carolina Espinoza-Strelec (James Strelec), Javier A Espinoza (Traci Espinoza), Clarissa Idrogo-Mata (Uriel Mata), Frank Anthony Idrogo, and Vanessa A. Gonzalez; great-granddaughters, Izabel Marie Espinoza and Evey Carolina Strelec; sisters: Maria de la Luz P. Tijerina, Carmen G. Palacios, and Lupita P. Gomez; brothers: Tomas Palacios, Julian Ramiro Palacios, and Rito S. Palacios. Mrs. Vallejo is also survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to her doctors. Special thank you to Dr. Rafael Deliz who for the last 14 years took care of our mother with expertise, compassion and tenacity. To Dr. Carlos Cigarroa who took special time for Doña Herminia, Dr. Carlos Espinosa who always made time for our mom. To First Aide Home Care and their wonderful dedicated nurses who came at whatever time we called them. To Texas Visiting Nurses for their compassionate care to our mom. To all the nurses and CNAs at Doctors Hospital on the 2nd floor. Special thank you to CNA Leslie Perez who attended our mom with so much kindness and patience during the night shift. To her caregivers who not only took care of her, but loved her dearly: Lourdes Mancillas, Arabella Cantu-Diaz, Mrs. Senaida Garcia, Mrs. Lucia Navarro, Ms. Josefina Huerta, Mrs. Lucia Flores, and Ms. Estela Vicencio.

 A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at 7:00 P.M. at Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M.

Pallbearers will be Joseph A. Lara, Javier A. Espinoza, Frank A. Idrogo, James Strelec, Uriel Mata, and Pedro Montemayor III.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jose Luis Palacios, Jose Luis Lara, Arturo Espinoza, Deacon Frank Idrogo Jr., Ruben Gonzalez, Albert Innocencio, Jaime Gomez Jr., and Alberto Gomez.

Interment will follow to the family plot at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
