It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Irma Alicia Martinez, a beloved mother, dedicated businesswoman, and cherished member of the Laredo community, who left this world on December 16, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on November 6, 1952, in Laredo, Texas, Irma's vibrant spirit and unwavering determination made a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Irma was a proud Mexican American, embracing her rich heritage and instilling the values of hard work and perseverance in her family. As a self-employed entrepreneur in the food service industry, she worked tirelessly to build a life for her children, Juan Chapa and Irma Chapa, who survive her. Irma's dedication to her business and family was matched only by her generous heart; she often went out of her way to help others in need.
Throughout her life, Irma demonstrated remarkable resilience, navigating life's challenges with grace and optimism. Her warm smile and inviting laughter were a constant source of comfort to those around her, making her not just a mother, but a friend, a mentor, and a pillar of strength in the community.
Irma will be deeply missed by her family, her friends, and all who were touched by her kindness. The love she shared will continue to inspire those who knew her, as will her commitment to creating a better life for her loved ones. Irma was preceded in death by: Prisciliano Martinez, Guadalupe Martinez and is survived by her children: Irma Chapa, Juan Manuel Chapa Jr. (Claudia Ruiz Chapa), grandson, Diego Oleg Chapa; siblings: Rosa Elia Elizondo (Rodolfo Elizondo), Maria Teresa Martinez, Silvia Santos (Horacio Santos), Prisciliano Martinez Herrera, Maria De Lourdes Valdez (Raul) Valdez, Juan Ramon Martinez Herrera (Maria Martinez).
Funeral services for Irma will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 5 to 9 in the evening at Hillside Funerals & Cremations, where a Rosary will be recited in her memory at 7 in the evening.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 in the morning on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. All attending are asked to meet at the church as there will be no procession from the funeral home.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
