J. Gerardo Slowik

J. Gerardo Slowik passed away Friday, April 27, 2018 in Laredo, Texas. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and at a very young age his family moved to Bariloche, where he lived until leaving to study engineering at the University of Buenos Aires where he received his degree in Acoustical Engineer. After working for several companies, he came to Laredo to work for DiscWasher, a subsidiary of Jensen International. Two years after he moved to Chicago to work for the main company. After he retired, he returned to Laredo and was in charge of the management branch of Gold Key Real Estate. Mr. Slowik was an avid skier and enjoyed fishing, hunting, scuba diving and swimming. He traveled abroad at least once a year to experience different places and cultures.  He loved to read and was a music enthusiast. He had a great sense of humor, was a gourmet cook, wine connoisseur and enjoyed entertaining at home.    Surviving him are his wife Lola Slowik; children , Tamara Amuchastegui (Pablo), Natasha (Tanja), Nicolas (Florencia);grandchildren, Nicolas and Ella Amuchastegui, Uma and Athina Slowik; stepchildren, Jorge, Carlos and Robert Mata, step-grandchildren, Allesandra, Daniella and Eric Mata; sister Ursula Slowik; nephew, Jerry; niece, Paola. He is also survived by numerous friends from Argentina, Chicago and Laredo.
