Jeffrey Lee Greenblum

November 22, 1951 — January 2, 2023

Dallas, Texas

Jeffrey Lee Greenblum, age 71, passed away on January 2, 2023.  He was incredibly smart, loved international business and succeeded in governance and politics.  Most of all, he was a dedicated father to his son, William (“Billy”) Greenblum, and a dedicated son to his mother, Shirley Greenblum.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Isidoro Irving Greenblum.  He is survived by his son William Greenblum, his mother Shirley Greenblum, his Aunt Frances Sue Schneider, his Uncle Leo Greenblum, and his brothers Gary (Desiree Koome), Brad (Jennifer Frankfurt) and Robbie Greenblum.

Born in Dallas and raised in Laredo, Texas, Jeff graduated from Nixon High School in 1969.  He then graduated with an Accounting degree from the University of Texas in 1973, and then a Law degree from Southern Methodist University in 1976.  Early in his legal career, Jeff mounted an almost successful and memorable write-in campaign to serve as City Attorney of Laredo.  Jeff remained rooted to his Laredo friends and experiences throughout his life.

Jeff served as a senior executive in Houston with KP Exploration.  During his tenure with KP Exploration, the company drilled over 200 oil and gas wells, primarily in South Texas and Oklahoma.

Jeff then rose to serve his country during the George HW Bush Administration at the Departments of Energy and Commerce.  While at the Department of Energy, Jeff served as Senior Executive in the Office of Fossil Energy.  At the Department of Commerce, Jeff served in international trade as Director, Office of Africa.

Jeff served as senior executive with Diamond Fields Resources during the Voiseys Bay Nickel discovery in Canada.  He also worked as the managing director of Rio Mining and Energy, a natural resource consultancy.  He later served as a Founder and Chairman of the Board for Energulf Resources.
