Mr. Jose Ricardo Gonzalez, 71, entered his eternal rest on July 3, 2025, in the presence of his beloved family by his side. Born in Laredo, Texas, on April 3, 1954, to the late Ignacio Gonzalez and Paula Reyes, Jose Ricardo lived his entire life in his hometown. Upon graduation in the 1970's, from Raymond and Tirza Martin High School, he attended and graduated from the then Laredo State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Math. He was a proud public-school educator at L.J. Christen Middle School in the Math Department for 27 years. After his retirement as a public-educator he served the Laredo community for 14 years through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.
A man of simple upbringing, full of love, and compassion for others he cherished spending time with family and friends, riding horses, and bowling among other past times. He found value in creating memories with his family such as traveling to the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle National Shrine on Palm Sundays and attending his nieces’ and nephews’ basketball and baseball games. A faithful brother, caring uncle, educator, and friend, he will be forever cherished and missed by all who loved and cared for him.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Ignacio Gonzalez and Paul Reyes; siblings: Angel Gonzalez, Sabino Gonzalez, Crispin Gonzalez, and Jose Delfino Gonzalez.
Surviving him are his sisters: Maria del Rosario Gonzalez, Bertha Alicia Baez; sister-in-law, Belem Gonzalez, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Condolences will be received on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 5 to 9 pm at Hillside Funerals and Cremations, where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will be offered at 7 pm.
The funeral service will commence with a departure at 8:30 am on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 am.
