Jose Maria Guardiola, 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026, in Laredo, Texas, surrounded by the love of his family.
Jose was a devoted son, brother, and friend whose kindness, strength, and quiet wisdom touched all who knew him. He carried himself with humility and grace, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Jose Maria was a man who found happiness in life’s smallest, most meaningful moments. He could often be found in his garden, tending to his plants with patience and care, nurturing life with the same gentle spirit he shared with everyone he met. To him, the garden was more than a pastime—it was a place of peace, reflection, and pride.
He had a special fondness for nature’s little visitors. Feeding squirrels and birds brought him immense joy, and he took comfort in watching them gather, as if they too recognized his warm and giving heart. These daily rituals reflected the tenderness and generosity that defined his character.
Jose Maria also loved spending time at the flea market, where he enjoyed the lively atmosphere, simple treasures, and the chance to connect with others. Whether browsing, chatting, or just taking it all in, those moments brought him happiness and a sense of community.
Above all, Jose Maria will be remembered for his gentle soul, his steady presence, and the love he shared so freely. He leaves behind memories rooted in kindness, patience, and a life well lived.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jose Maria Guardiola; paternal grandfather, Jose Maria Guardiola; paternal grandmother, Consuelo Santos de Guardiola; maternal grandfather, Tomas Isidro Garza Flores; and maternal grandmother, Petra Cavazos Vda. De Garza.
He is survived by his loving mother, Maria Elva Guardiola; his siblings, Maria Elva Guardiola, Ricardo (Patricia) Guardiola, Rodolfo (Nidia) Guardiola, Ana (Jesus Gabriel) Arispe and Araceli (Don) Carter; nieces and nephews, Ricardo “Ricky” Guardiola, Andres “Andy” Guardiola, Liza (Abe) Cantu, Rodolfo “Rudy” Guardiola, Monica Guardiola, Jesus “Jesse” Arispe, Gerardo “Jerry” Arispe, David Arispe, Antonio “Tony” Arispe, Kimberly Dill and Cody Dill.
