Joseph E. Souza

July 13, 1948 — March 25, 2018

Joseph E. Souza departed to his eternal home on March 25, 2018.  Joe as he liked to be called was born on July 13, 1948 in New Bedford Massachusetts. As a young child his family moved to Marshfield Massachusetts where he was raised.  Moving to Texas as a young man he quickly went from being a proud Yankee to a proud Texan.  For all who knew Joe, each one has a thousand stories to share. He loved earnestly.  Joe worked as an Equipment Foreman for over thirty years for Libra Leasing.  An Old school man, he loved sharing his knowledge with others. His heart held a special place for his "Morning Coffee Club" friends. Joe was always the baby of the group. His love of reminiscing and pranks hold his own special trade mark.  Joe knew his Savior and we know he is at total peace.  Words cannot express our feelings of emptiness.  He is preceded in death by his loving parents Chester and Florence, his brother Chester Jr (Jean), his sister Eileen Hatch; and his father in law, Howard R. Cary from Laredo Texas. Left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife of thirty-four years, Mary Cary Souza; daughters, Kasi L. Janz (Ryan) and Diane Dillon; grandsons, Shamus and Declan; mother-in- law, Mrs. Howard Cary; sister-in-law, Laura Cary Rea. Mr. Souza is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many treasured friends.  He would want all to enjoy this day where we celebrate His Life. One last note...Joe would request all men wear jeans to his service, as he was a jeans, boots and Cowboy Hat kind of guy!A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. A reception will be held at the Funeral Home after memorial service. Many thanks to Dr. Robert Benn Vincent and his wife Sandy, driving all the way from Alexandria, Louisiana to officiate the service. Likewise, to Dana Crabtree and Joe Crabtree for singing his favorite songs.  The Souza family members extend their gratitude and love to all.  To know Joe, was to love him. It was easy to love a truly amazing man!
