Juan Garza De León, nacido el 6 de julio de 1945 en México, falleció en paz el 13 de enero de 2026 en Laredo, Texas, rodeado del amor de su familia. A lo largo de su vida, Juan personificó la bondad, la generosidad y un espíritu inquebrantable que tocó a todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo.

El profundo amor de Juan por la música lo llevó a formar una banda de rock, en la cual se desempeñó como vocalista principal. El grupo llegó a convertirse en pionero del movimiento Rock en Español durante la década de 1960, ayudando a dar forma al nacimiento del rock en México, abriendo camino para las generaciones futuras y dejando una huella perdurable en la música de su época.

Juan fue precedido en la muerte por su devota esposa, Elsa Margarita Casso Farías de Garza, así como por sus padres, Benigno Garza Salazar y Eloisa De León Campos. También le precedieron en la muerte sus hermanos: Samuel Garza, Enrique Garza, María Luisa Garza, Angélica Garza, Cristina Garza, Guilibaldo Garza y Elida Garza, quienes juntos formaron un tapiz de amor y recuerdos compartidos.

Juan Garza De Leon, born on July 6, 1945, in Mexico, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, in Laredo, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Throughout his life, Juan epitomized kindness, generosity, and an unwavering spirit that touched all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Juan’s deep love for music led him to form a rock band, where he served as a lead singer. The group went on to become a pioneer of the Rock en Español movement in the 1960s, helping shape the birth of rock music in Mexico, opening the way for generations to follow, and leaving a lasting mark on the music of his time.

Juan was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Elsa Margarita Casso Farias de Garza, as well as his parents, Benigno Garza Salazar and Eloisa De Leon Campos. He also mourned the loss of his siblings: Samuel Garza, Enrique Garza, Maria Luisa Garza, Angelica Garza, Cristina Garza, Guilibaldo Garza, and Elida Garza, who together created a tapestry of love and shared memories.

Juan's journey was one filled with love and dedication to his family. He also greatly enjoyed spending time with his extended family, who were always a constant and supportive presence throughout his life. He is survived by his cherished children: Juan Alejandro Garza Casso, Veronica Melissa Garza Casso, Elsa Marlene Garza de Ruiz (Jason), and Ana Marcela Garza de Covarrubias (Martin). His legacy continues through his adoring grandchildren: Abril Garza Montemayor, Mateo Alejandro Covarrubias Garza, Saul Covarrubias Garza, Matias Gabriel Ruiz Garza, and Juan Alejandro Garza Jr. Juan also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, all of whom will hold his memory close to their hearts.

Family and friends are warmly invited to pay their respects and celebrate Juan's life. Visitation will be held on January 16, 2026, at Hillside Funeral & Cremations in Laredo, Texas, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Liturgy of the Word will be held at 7:00 PM, providing an opportunity for all who knew Juan to gather and share their stories, reflecting on the joy he brought into their lives.

Funeral services will conclude at the end of the visitation and a private cremation will be held at a later date.

Juan's presence will be sorely missed, yet his spirit will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace.
