Juanita G. Lira

November 24, 1937 — March 15, 2024

Laredo, Texas

On March 15, 2024, God decided the journey that our beloved, Juanita G. Lira had traveled throughout her earthly life, would now be completed as she was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven. Her parting leaves a void in our hearts, but one that is and will forever be filled by the countless memories we will hold dear.

Juanita grew up in the Rio Grande Valley and shortly after her marriage and her first-born son, they moved to Laredo, where she and her husband raised the rest of the family. Immediately, she became a very active parent in the J.W. Nixon Athletic and Band Programs, throughout her children's education. Her other civic engagements included being a member of the Red Hat Society, LARSA, as well as other civic and social clubs.

One of her most cherished associations was being a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Mary Magdalene Court #1989. She was a woman of great faith and perseverance and now is resting in the presence of God and all those that have welcomed her into paradise.

Juanita was born on November 24, 1937, in Mercedes, Texas. She was the daughter of Ezequiel and Guadalupe Gonzalez Garza, who preceded her in death. She was married to Vicente Lira, who also precedes her in death.

She comes from a long and joyous family, including her children: Dennis Vincent (Laura) Lira, Cynthia Ann (Dr. Francisco Gutierrez) Lira, Charles Andrew (Mercedes) Lira Sr., Sandra Kay (+Jose Luis Magaña) Lira-Magaña. Grandchildren: Christina D. (Sergio) Ramirez, Charles A. (Veronica) Lira Jr., Richard D. (Amy) Lira, Alyna Nicole Lira, Yessenia E. Magaña, Oscar V. (Lauren Patton) Lira, Alexandra L.
