Judith Castaño Flores, age 80, departed this life surrounded by her loving family and entered into heaven May 19, 2017. Judith was born in Lampazos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and lived in Laredo most of her life. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and supportive sister. In 1971, she co-founded Flores-Castaño Enterprises, which included Imports from Mexico, a real estate company and Stor-In-Town. As an extension of her charitable giving and of her countless hours of volunteer work for various Catholic organizations, she founded Casa De La Esperanza de Nuevo Laredo, AC, a nonprofit devoted to assisting children and families in need in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. She worked tirelessly for her family, her community and those who needed a voice. She leaves many wonderful memories with her family and will be deeply missed by all those who knew her and were touched by her passionate energy for living in service to others. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Hugo L. Flores, her parents, Vicente Castaño Gonzalez and Maria De los Angeles Vazquez de Castaño, her parents-in-law, Leopoldo Flores Rendon and Ana Garcia de Flores, her sisters, Maria De los Angeles Castaño de Barrera, Maria Leonor Castaño de Garza and Maria Luisa Castaño de Gutierrez and her brother-in-law, Jaime Ramos Benavides. She is survived by her children, Hugo G. (Sara Alicia Sanchez) Flores, Veronica F. Rossini, Susana F. (Gonzalo) Farias, Leopoldo L. (Tania Garza) Flores and Laura F. (John Page) Bachman; sisters, Maria Elena Castaño Benavides and Maria Aurora Castaño Gonzalez; sisters-in-laws, Olvido Amparo Flores and Amparo Padilla Ramos; brother-in-law, Joel Gutierrez; grandchildren, Hugo II and Allegra Flores, Giovanni Rossini, Hector, Rafael, Enrique and Isabella Farias, Leopoldo Jr. and Andres Flores, Lauren Elizabeth Mankus, and Cristian and Marina Bachman. Mrs. Flores is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited Tuesday May 22, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel led by the Salesian Sisters of Mary Help of Christians. Visitation will be held from 5:00p.m to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will commence Wednesday May 23, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Christ the King Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the family plot of Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Leopoldo L. Flores, Jr., Giovanni L. Rossini, Andres E. Flores, Hector G. Farias, Hugo G. Flores, II, Rafael G. Farias, Cristian E. Bachman and Enrique C. Farias. In lieu of flowers, you are encouraged to send a gift to the charity of your choice.
