Lucia M. Moreno passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022, - 12 days after celebrating her 93rd birthday.
She was known to many as Lucy, but almost all ended up calling her Mom, Tia or Grandma Lucy because once you met her, you became part of the always-expanding family. She lived the majority of her life in Laredo and was an active member of the schools her children attended through PTAs and various other school clubs.
Though Lucy’s health was failing for years, her joy for life, her indomitable spirit, and her love and involvement with family (all family) kept her pushing through the years. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like - there was no quit in her. And although she is no longer here in body, she will always be with us in spirit and through the many memories that she was a part of throughout everyone's lives.
John 1:4-5, “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
A special thanks goes out to the many nurses, doctors, and medical personnel that attended to her, especially to Dora Martinez and Dr. Milton Haber and his staff.
Lucy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gilberto O. Moreno Sr., her beautiful daughter Belinda Moreno, and her much loved son-in-law Ronald (Ronnie) Stratton. She is survived by her son Gilberto Moreno Jr., son Raul (Cecile) Moreno, daughter Esther M. Stratton, and son Sam (Ana) Moreno, as well as, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
