Luis Garcia, 87, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018, at his residence in Laredo, Texas.  He was born August 19, 1931, in Laredo, Texas to Jose and Macaria Garcia. After High School, he joined the U. S. Army, where he was honorably discharged. He was a graduate of Texas A&M at Kingsville, where he earned a Master degree in education. He was an L.I.S.D. educator for 39 years. He started his career at Heights Elementary School and retired as a school principal from L. Diaches Elementary School in 1996. His passions were educating the youth and spending time at his home gardening.  Mr. Garcia is preceded in death by his parents Jose and Macaria Garcia; siblings, Amelia Garcia, and Jose Ruben Garcia; niece, Lorraine Villarreal. He is survived by his sisters, Maria Gaytan Landeros, and Guadalupe Garcia Rampa; nephews, Jose J. (Yolanda) Villarreal Sr., Jose J. Villarreal Jr., Jonathan Martinez; niece, Denise Villarreal. Mr. Garcia is also survived by other numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and friends. A rosary will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to St. Patrick Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow to the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
