Marcelino Mares

December 17, 1926 — February 11, 2020

Marcelino Mares, 93, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. Marcelino was born in Dolores, Texas in 1926, but had been a life-long resident of Laredo. Born to migrant parents, Marcelino at a very young age began what would later be his life-long career as an accountant. A self-made man, he worked to educate himself, and aspired to someday become a small business owner, and have his own accounting firm. A dream that was fulfilled, and one that he never lost sight of for all of his adult life.  Marcelino was a proud World War II veteran, having served in the United States Navy. To those who knew him well, they will tell you how this soft, gentle man, was an inspiration to others; always was willing to help others. Never lost sight of his humble and simple beginnings. To his family, he was just a simple man who reached success thru hard work and perseverance- qualities that made him stand out as an amazing father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and best friend. Marcelino will always be remembered for his warm smile and laughter, for his vigor and love of life- a life well-lived all thru his 93 years. Mr. Marcelino was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Dolores Mares.Left to cherish his memory are his children, Cynthia Mares, Carlos Mares; step-children, Sally (Raul) Vasquez, Efrain (Jessica) Laurel  Jr., Carlos (Patsy) Laurel; grandchildren, Marc A.
