Maria Rita Gonzalez

Maria Rita Gonzalez, 87, was called home by the Lord on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

Maria Rita was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and faithful woman whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family will be forever remembered.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Miguel Garcia & Tiburcia P. Garcia; siblings, Eusebio Garcia, Miguel Garcia, Casimiro Garcia, Segundo Garcia, Francisco Garcia, Ramona Garcia, Josefa Salinas; two great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 66 years, Candelario Gonzalez; children, Candelario Gonzalez Jr., Oralia Ortiz (Javier), Francisco Gonzalez, Maria D. Bonugli (Jose A.), Maria Rita Guajardo (Rodolfo), Rosalinda Fernandez (Milton), Araceli Guerra (Omar), Alejandro Gonzalez (Yvette); 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Maria de Refugio Aguilar; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 5 to 9pm at Hillside Funerals & Cremations, where a Prayer Service will be held at 7pm.

Visitation will continue on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 7 to 10:30am at Hillside Funerals & Cremations, where a Chapel Service will be held at 9:30am. We will be departing the funeral home chapel at 10:30am to the Laredo City Cemetery, where a Graveside Service will be held at 11am.

Pallbearers will be: Candelario Gonzalez Jr, Roberto M. Chapa, Jose A. Bonugli, Javier Ortiz, Omar Guerra Jr., & Rodolfo Guajardo.
