Marina Delgado Mata

Marina Delgado Mata went to be with the Lord November 8, 2022. She passed away peacefully in Laredo, Texas surrounded by all her family. 

She was happily married to Arq. Fidencio Mata Saucedo in 1964 until his death in 2003 (39 years) and would often say she did not want to spend a day apart from the love of her life. Together they raised three children in Laredo. 

She enjoyed painting artwork, reading, cooking, word games, and was an avid Master word seeker. Her biggest love of all were her children and grandchildren, who fondly recount her infectious laugh and love of life, and who always made every single outing a fun adventure. She had a passion for travel and she leaves them with endless travel memories that they will cherish for their lifetime. She especially enjoyed traveling to Santa Fe, New York City, New Jersey, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, and Mexico. Tireless and hardworking, she used her accounting background to run her own Mexican import business in downtown Laredo for many years as well as in sales.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ismael Delgado and Emma Saenz; sister, Nilda Delgado Martinez; and brothers, Guillermo, Raul, Ismael, Alfonso, and Juan Antonio. 

She is survived by her children, Marina (Rafael de la Garza II), Emma Laura (Francis Galan), Fidencio Jr. (Laura Valdez); and six grandchildren, Rafael de la Garza III, Cristian de la Garza, Nicolas and Madison Galan, and Patrick and Carlos Mata. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Friday, November 11, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hillside Funerals and Cremations, 310 W. Hillside Rd. Laredo, Texas 78041.

A mass will be celebrated at San Agustin Catholic Cathedral, 201 San Agustin Ave. Laredo, Texas, 78040, at 1:30 PM. All guests wishing to attend are asked to please meet at church. There will be no formal procession. 

A private interment will be held Saturday, November 12, 2022.
