Melida Mares

“May love be what you remember most.” – Darcie Sims Melida Mares joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at the age of 86 surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ignacio and Maria Sanchez; her sisters Marianela (Raymundo+) Ferrara and Magdalena Arredondo. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Marcelino Mares; her children, Efrain J. (Jessica) Laurel Jr., Araceli L. (Raul) Vasquez, Carlos D. (Patricia Ramos) Laurel, Cynthia Mares and Carlos A. Mares; her grandchildren Jennifer (Felix Jr) Gonzalez, Michelle (Parker) Buhr, E.J. (Antoinette) Laurel III, Erik Laurel, Roy Vasquez, Steven Laurel, Andrea Laurel, Raul Laurel, Mark (Lisa) Garza and Anel Mares; great grandchildren Sadie, Trey, Jake, Zeke, Celine, Zach and Jack; siblings Ignacio (Graciela) Sanchez Jr, Manuel (Genoveva) Sanchez and Cora Lopez; brother-in-law Manuel Arredondo; her fur baby and constant companion, Foxy. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will be receiving condolences on Friday, November 29, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home chapel, 310 Hillside Road. A vigil for the deceased and a rosary will commence at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to St. Patrick Catholic Church. A mass for Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Rite of Committal and Internment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to her caregivers Lucy and Lily for their loving care and to her doctors: Dr. Carlos Hornedo, Dr. Benson Huang, Dr. Arthur Santos and Dr. Selena Stuart for all their medical attention and care.
