Otila M. Garcia, age 91, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in Laredo, Texas. She was born to Martin Garcia and Antonia Gonzalez, who preceded her in death.
Otila was a woman of quiet strength, deep love, and unwavering devotion to her family. She lived a life rooted in faith, kindness, and resilience, touching the hearts of all who knew her. Her warmth and gentle spirit will be remembered as a source of comfort and inspiration to those she leaves behind.
She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Guadalupe Briones, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and cherished memories. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Ramiro Garcia and Rodolfo (Ana Maria Torres) Garcia.
Left to honor and cherish her memory is her loving daughter, Marissa Iglesias. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Roel (Mirna) Flores, Mariza (Sergio) Vazquez, Sergio Luis (Ari) Iglesias, and Andrea Denise Iglesias. Her legacy continues through her treasured great-grandchildren: Ricardo Joel Flores, Eduardo Gael Flores, Zoe Flores, Sergio Adan Vazquez, Sophia Janelle Vazquez, Saidey Ann Vazquez, Shaely Mia Vazquez, Shayne Greg Vazquez, Seth Luis Andres Vazquez, Shawn Charlie Vazquez, Sabrina Melina Vazquez, Stassi Annie Vazquez, and Sunday Anne Vazquez.
She is also survived by her siblings, Jorge Luis (Sanjuanita) Garcia and Elva Garcia; sister-in-law, Irma Garcia as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close in their hearts.
The family will be receiving condolences on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Hillside Funerals and Cremations from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a prayer service to be held at 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will continue on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Hillside Funerals and Cremations beginning at 7:00 AM. A chapel service will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral procession departing the funeral home at 11:15 AM.
A graveside service will be held at the City of Laredo Cemetery.
Otila’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, and family. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
