Rafael Martinez

Rafael Martinez, son of Rafael and Viviana Martinez, both deceased, passed away March 29, 2019 at the age of 91.   He attended Martin High School and Laredo Junior College. He served in the Air Force and was stationed in Germany at the end of WW II.  He and his wife of 47 years, Lola Martinez of blessed memory, started Martinez Refrigeration in 1963. It is a credit to them both that this business is over 56 years old.Rafael Martinez is survived by daughter, Lisa Boyar; sons Raphael (Boryana) Martinez, Paul (Sherry) Kalisz, and David (Laura) Kalisz. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.The family would like to thank Dr. Dennis Cantu, Dr. Adolfo Garcia and the other doctors and staff at Laredo Regional Medical Center that tended to his needs especially the last few months. As well, we would like to thank Luisa Cavazos and Araceli Tijerina for tending to him during his illness. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the Jewish section of the City of Laredo Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. We request that in lieu of flowers a donation in his name be made to Congregation Agudas Achim or any charity of your choice.
