Reynaldo "Tacky" Reyna Jr.

April 12, 1931 — November 30, 2020

Reynaldo “Tacky” Reyna Jr., 89, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020, in Laredo. Texas.

Some of Mr. Reyna’s favorite pastimes were golfing, softball, baseball playing table games with his children, and gathering at Mall del Norte with veteran comrades. Mr. Reyna was a member of the Knight of Columbus Council, Holy Family Altar Society, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8575, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9194, Laredo Veterans Coalition, American Legion Post 59. He was also a Korea War Veteran, USA National Guard, Laredo Medical Center Auxilian, member of the Doctors Hospital Senior Salud, Laredo Medical Center Senior Circle, American Association of Retired persons. Mr. Reyna served in the U.S. Army, worked at South Texas Metal, and Laredo I.S.D. Sheet metal designer.

Having dropped out of high school to voluntarily join the U.S. Army, in his latter years he was presented with the Martin High School Diploma along with other retired veterans by then principal, Mr. Frances Wawroski. “Once a tiger always a tiger!”

Mr. Reyna is survived by his beloved wife, Catalina T. Reyna; daughter, Maricela Martinez; step-children, Sandra (Jose) Jimenez, Jose Luis (Geraldine) Cortez, Juan Francisco (Melissa) Cortez, Humberto A. Cortez, Aurora (Nicolas) Mitchell, and Jesse J. Cortez; siblings, Jose Luis (Olga) Reyna, Ada Carmen (Eddie+) Peña, Beatriz+ (Eloy) Martinez, and Armandina Vega +. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A vigil of the deceased will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020, at 6:30 p.m. at the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Holy Family Church. A mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m.

Interment will follow in the Veterans Section at the City of Laredo Cemetery.

Military Honors will be provided by Fort Sam Houston Honor Guard and American Legion Post 59 Honor Guard.
