Rosario Cisneros

March 1, 1941 — November 12, 2019

Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Rosario Cisneros,78, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2019, in Laredo, Texas.   Affectionately known as Tita to her grandchildren, she was a woman with an unparalleled zest for life and a fierce sense of independence. With an uncanny ability to inspire creativity and a desire to defy conformity, she was a guidepost in the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her- and to know her truly was a privilege. She was ever graceful in the face of adversity and was unfailingly generous despite coming from humble means. She will be remembered for her wit and whimsy, her tendency to cheat at board games, her truly unmatched recipe for bunuelos, her unique sense of style and flair, and most of all, for her contagious positivity and fearlessness. She committed follies with her children and grandchildren, and never gave them any idea that they could not do whatever they set their mind to. Although a lifetime is not forever, Chayo lived more fully and more profoundly than most within those numbered days. She was the adored wife of the late John Dennis Edwards, whom she treasured. Ms. Cisneros is preceded in death by her loving husband, John Dennis Edwards; her parents, Enrique and Carolina Gutierrez; sister, Yolanda Alcala. She is survived by her children Carolina Cantu, Rene (Carmela) Cantu, Corina (Rourke) Melendez and Jose Ricardo (Gicela) Cantu; grandchildren, Jonathan Melendez, Christopher Melendez, Alejandro Sanchez, Rebeca Marie (Caleb) Garcia, Andres (Ema) Sanchez, Adriana Ariel (Juan) Sanchez, Jose Ricardo Cantu Jr., Tristan Rourke Melendez, Lauren Amanda Melendez, Luca Cantu, Jett Cantu; great-grandchildren, Alexander Jacob Sanchez, Caleb Isaiah Garcia and Leia Jennifer Garcia; siblings, Ricardo (Lorena) Gutierrez, Fred Smith, Irene Kelly and Rosita (Ruben) Bribiesca.
