Rosa Judith (Judy) Oldham, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and educator, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, surrounded by her immediate family. She was born on October 28, 1950, in Laredo, Texas, where she was raised by her loving parents, Homar and Guadalupe (Lupita) Villarreal.
Judy earned her degree in Elementary Education from Texas A&I Laredo (now Texas A&M International University) in 1973 and dedicated her life to teaching. She spent decades shaping young minds in Laredo ISD at Santa Maria Elementary, Alma Pierce Elementary, Henry B. Zachry Elementary, and Katherine Tarver Elementary, until retiring on October 31, 2015. In addition to teaching, Judy operated two daycare centers-Con Cariño, which she ran alongside her husband, Spencer, from 1987 to 1990, and later, A Caring Hand, which she operated with her daughter, Cindy.
She was a devoted Catholic and a member of San Luis Rey Catholic Church. She also held strong beliefs in service and compassion, supporting causes such as St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Judy was a woman of quiet strength and kindness. Though initially shy, she had a warm and engaging presence, becoming a great conversationalist once she got to know you. She loved to reminisce about her past, sharing cherished memories and stories with family and friends. She found joy in sewing, floral arrangements, and reading. Above all, she instilled in her family the values of honesty, hard work, and commitment.
She is survived by her dedicated and loving husband, Spencer Thomas Oldham; her daughter, Cindy Ybarra, and son-in-law, Rudy Ybarra; her son, Denholm Edward Oldham, and daughter-in-law, Shirleen Oldham; her cherished grandchildren, Miles Gabriel Ybarra, Sofia Isabella Ybarra, Levi Elliott Oldham, and Aurora Mae Oldham; her brother-in-law, Cesar Javier Oldham, and sister-in-law, Guadalupe (Lupita) Oldham; as well as numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
The family will receive condolences on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Hillside Funerals and Cremations from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm.
A cremation will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the American Diabetes Associate in her honor.
