Spencer Thomas Oldham Jr.

Spencer Thomas Oldham, Jr., age 78, passed away on April 27, 2026, in Laredo, Texas, the city where he was born and raised.

Spencer dedicated his life to education as a teacher, sharing his passion for learning with generations of students. He was especially known for his love of the theater. He taught theater arts at United High School and was deeply involved with the Laredo Little Theatre, where he directed and performed in numerous productions. His impact on the local arts community and his students will be remembered for years to come.

He was a loving and caring husband and father who cherished his family and took pride in the lives of his children and grandchildren.

Spencer was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Judith Oldham, and his mother, Maria Ignacia Oldham.

He is survived by his children: Cindy Oldham-Ybarra and her spouse Rudy Ybarra, along with their children Miles Gabriel Ybarra and Sofia Isabella Ybarra; Denholm E. Oldham and his spouse Shirleen Oldham, along with their children Levi Elliott Oldham and Aurora Mae Oldham; and his brother Cesar Oldham and his spouse Lupita Oldham, along with their children Cesar Oldham, Jr., Kathy Oldham, and Spencer Oldham. He is also survived by his cousins Alfonso Vasquez, Isabel Odeh, Joe Clark, Jr., Grace Acosta, Rosa Munoz, Federico Vazquez, and Miguel Mejia, as well as numerous other cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation services will be held on Friday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Home, 310 W Hillside Rd, Laredo, TX 78041.

Services will conclude after the visitation. 

Spencer’s legacy lives on through the many lives he touched as a teacher, mentor, and performer, and through the love he shared with his family.
